Day 59: Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Via Flickr:
LDS People - Doesn't it KIND OF look like a temple? With the stone and everything?? I can't help it, but I think that every time I see it. The "Yankee Stadium" in gold letters is totally their version of the Moroni statue.

Don't judge me. It's so true.

Hmm. Wise words.

You can't be tempted by something you don't want.

Hmm.

Day 57.1: Even Gloomier Gotham

Aaaaand then it got even darker. There was a crazy severe thunderstorm watch. Luckily, I was on the train and missed the rain.

Day 53: Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down...

Via Flickr:
And today was both. (wasn't a bad day though actually...it was fine. but perhaps had it been Wednesday and sunny, it would've been a good day?)

Day 52: Give me your tired, your poor and stuff...

Artie and I took a trip out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island! It was so fun. I had actually never been to Liberty Island. We made the reservations literally, LAST YEAR. Because we wanted to go up into the crown...and they only let a certain number of people do that a day and tickets are pretty hard to come by! I walked the 354 stairs to the top and it is an experience I'll remember forever. Way cool. Made me love this national monument even more than I already did. Cheers, Lady Liberty!

Day 51: The Voice Auditions...wah wah.

Yes, I went and auditioned for The Voice on NBC today. With a bajillion other people. Interesting experience. But no, you won't be seeing me on the show. :(

I'm taking an accounting course online and last night I took my first quiz. Not bad, right? (When there are only 10 questions...) I was still totally disappointed I got one wrong. Such a little perfectionist...

Day 44: I love this building.

Just takin' a walk down 29th Street and admiring one of my favorite buildings in the city. Wish I could live there! :)

Day 43: Art in NYC...kind of.

We see it every day when we walk down the streets of the city...It's like New York's quirky version of artwork. There's little differences in each spray-painted sign. :) I took a moment today and found my favorite out of the 6 or so on the block.

Day 40: I can't stop taking pictures of the cake pops!

Cake Pops again. I really am planning on doing an actual post about this. Aside from the photo-a-day... But seriously, don't these look amazing?

Day 39: So proud of my cake pops!

I basically am awesome at life and I made delicious cake pops.  I will be doing a whole post about them once I upload the pics.  Spoiler:  I decorated them like LADY BUGS!

Day 37: Jay got me flowers! Oh joy!

This morning I had coffee with my professor from CMU Pre-College, Jay. He lives in NC so I see him maybe once every one or two years. It's always so great to see him and it was even greater today because he brought me pretty spikey flowers!!

AND he is seeing SLEEP NO MORE tonight and I cannot wait to hear what he thought of it! Wooooooo!

In case you were wondering how to say "Do not eat raw cake batter" in Spanish:

I just found this on the cake box. I had never noticed they even warned about eating raw cake batter - but how much better is it that they warn in BOTH English and Spanish?

Awesome.

Day 36: Peekaboo! Friday night on the couch.

Watching movies and eating pizza.

I could not resist adding this as well. This show was beyond magical. One of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I am dying to go again. If you are in NYC before September, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go experience it. I can't even explain the intense, mind-blowing awesomeness that this is. Just go.

Oh well. I was busy! I had work! And then I went to yoga! And then Dad came to town for 24 hours!

Patch Test - The Results

(Friday night - POST Shower. Dang tape residue wouldn't come off!)

So I made it through the week of torture. And my patch test results are in.

I have the following allergies:

Thimerosal
Vitamin E
Propolis
Lanolin
Palladium Chloride
Benzol Peroxide

So the Thimerosal is a major allergy. It's found in a lot of eye drops and sometimes in contact lens stuff. I had blisters from that patch and it was SO itchy. The dermatologist even decided to give me a shot of cortisone to take care of it afterwards. (and I HATE shots...but...I got it anyway...because it was THAT itchy and horrible)

Palladium Chloride can be in some jewelry, so I'll have to be careful there.

Vitamin E...is like...in ALL of my moisturizers (particularly the one I started using before I got the little rash that led to this dang patch test). And it has majorly limited my choices when it comes to soap, lotion, lip balm, shaving cream...like EVERYTHING.

Propolis ...is bee glue (or bees wax). So...goodbye Burts Bees Products.

Lanolin - y'know, like Sheeps Wool? (I kept being reminded of that scene in Anchorman "What's your name? ...Lanolin? L-Lanolin? Like Sheeps Wool?") Which is also in lotions and some healing stuff....

Basically my doctor made fun of the fact that my body seems to hate anything natural. Great.

I got a list of products that are safe for me to use. My makeup is really limited now. Depressing. And of the 44 sunscreens he had in his database, only ONE is approved for me to use. But no little rash under my eyes, so I guess it's worth it!

And the rest of my bumps from the patch test are almost gone.

So there you have it folks! Nature hates me! And the Patch Test comes to an end.

Truthfully, it was worth it...but dang, not getting to shower for 5 days was TORTURE. My Friday night shower was probably the best shower I have had in a loooooong time.

This is not a "Photo-A-Day" photo...but I was too proud of how awesome they look NOT to share.

I also tried to make them patriotic by dying the yellow cake red....it just came out dark pink. But it still looks pretty cool. Maybe I'll take a picture of the inside later. :)

Day 30: Aqua Blue Nail Polish! Wooo!

Bluuuuue! I saw this color and just couldn't pass it up. :) Fun for the 4th of July! Woo woo!

Day 29: The Book of Mooooooormon!

Via Flickr:
The Book of Mormon on Broadway had a "Mormon Fan Day" where they gave away free tickets to the performance. RT got free tickets and brought me along! It was actually a really enjoyable show, though I see where Mormons would be offended - lots of swear words...lots. I personally wasn't offended because the overall message was actually a great one. And I grew up hearing swear words, so frankly, they've never really bothered me. But truly, all the musical did was show that Mormons are kind, sweet people who want to share the gospel with the world...and in a really backwards way, the show does that too!
